It takes a mega-amount of some plants to produce a small bottle’s worth of the essential oil. Rose oil is a good example: it takes 1,000 pounds of rose petals that the farmer had to grow, harvest, and distill in order to get a scant 8 ounces of oil.

  • Add 1-2 drops in a teaspoon of honey.

Dilution and Essential Oils

When applying essential oils topically, adding carrier oil (Such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, olive, almond or jojoba oil) helps with the absorption and decreases chances of skin irritation. Some oils can be applied without a carrier oil but make sure to use a carry oil with essential oils that are known for being "hot" or "sensitizing". Examples of oils that should be diluted are peppermint, cinnamon and lemongrass.

Essential oils are potent and concentrated. Start with the lowest possible dose and apply more if needed (1-2d drops). For easy on-the-go use, try creating your own blend in a 10ml roller bottle. Add 3-5 drops of essential oils to 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.

CAUTION:
  1. Essential oils are very potent and may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs apply any pure vegetable oil to the area to dilute. Blend oils may cause temporary photosensitivity.
  2. Essential oils must not be applied undiluted to the skin. 5 drops of essential oil should be mixed with 10mL of Carrier Oil before application to the skin(More details on the dilution chart).
  3. Essential oils must be kept out of the reach of children and pets all the time.
  4. Essential oils, though beneficial for many of the conditions of pregnancy, should be used with caution.
